Introduction
This course specifies the competency required to conceptualize, design, develop and evaluate learning programs to meet an identified need for a group of learners, using appropriate criteria. Criteria may include endorsed competency standards and other specifications such as organizational performance standards, product equipment specifications and workplace procedures. The course also describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use training packages and accredited courses as tools to support industry, organization and individual competency development needs.
Objectives
Upon Completion of this course the participant will be able to:-
Define the parameters of the learning program in consultation with the client, Generate options for designing the learning program, Develop the learning program content, Select appropriate training package or accredited course, Analyze and interpret the qualifications framework, Contextualize units and modules for client applications, Design the structure of the learning program
Training Methodology
This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practices. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.

Course Outline
Define the parameters of the learning program in consultation with the client
Clarifying the purpose and focus of the learning program, Utilize competency standards or other relevant specifications on which to base the learning program are identified, accessed and confirmed, Understanding the Competency standards/other relevant specifications, analyze and interpret to determine specific learning objectives/outcomes/goals, and language, literacy and numeracy requirements, The scope and breadth of the learning program is discussed and interpreted, The target group learners and their characteristics are identified and considered, Other sources of information to support the learning program are identified and accessed, The learning environment, operational resource requirements and safety implications are identified.
Generate options for designing the learning program
Relevant learning strategy documentation is accessed and used to guide the learning program development, where appropriate, The competency/educational profile and learning styles of the target group learners are investigated to inform the learning program design, Research is conducted to identify existing learning programs and/or learning resources and learning materials which could be used and/or customized, A range of options for the learning program content is generated in collaboration with other persons and based on research findings and application of learning principles , Broad time frames
Develop the learning program content
The specific subject matter content is researched, developed and documented in accordance with agreed design option/s and based on application of learning principles, Existing learning resources, learning materials are accessed and evaluated for content relevance and quality, Selected learning resources, learning materials are customized, where appropriate
Select appropriate training package or accredited course
Confirm training and/or assessment needs of client, Identify and source training packages and/or accredited courses which could satisfy client needs
Analyze and interpret the qualifications framework
Read and interpret qualification rules, Review and determine applicable licensing requirements and prerequisites, Determine suitable electives that meet client needs and job roles
Analyze and interpret units of competency and accredited modules
Select individual unit or accredited module to meet client needs, Read, analyze and interpret all parts of the unit or accredited module for application to client needs, Analyze links between unit and/or accredited module to develop effective applications for the client
Contextualize units and modules for client applications
Use information from the client to contextualize the unit or accredited module to meet client needs, Use advice on contextualization produced by the training package developer or course developer to meet client needs
Analyze and interpret assessment guidance
Read, analyze and apply the assessment guidance of the relevant training package or accredited course, Determine any special requirements for assessment or reasonable adjustment to suit client needs
Design the structure of the learning program
The learning content is broken into manageable chunks/segments of learning and sequenced appropriately to enhance and support effective learning and to enable achievement of identified criteria, the time frame for each segment is determined and the overall time frame is finalized
Review the learning program
The learning program draft is reviewed in collaboration with key stakeholders using an appropriate evaluation tool, The evaluation feedback is gathered, summarized and analyzed to enhance the quality of the content, The draft learning program is adjusted to reflect the review outcomes, where appropriate, Final approval is obtained from appropriate personnel, The learning program documentation is held in an accessible form and updated on a regular basis following implementation and feedback
