Introduction
This course will address and highlight the entire submarine cable life cycle, providing participants with a holistic view and sound understanding of submarine power cables and their accessories. This training course focuses on submarine power transmission cables. Participants will obtain a holistic view and sound understanding of the various issues and topics that make submarine cables unique. The design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning of a submarine cable thus needs to be carefully implemented, including quality assurance and quality control in each phase.
Objectives
- An understanding of the parameters which differentiate submarine cables from land underground cables
- An understanding of the most important parameters during the design and commissioning of submarine cables
- Knowledge of the methods to mitigate the possibility of failures
- Insight into how to develop your set of requirements, methods, and techniques.
This training course will provide you with:
Training Methodology
This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for parties with an interest in improving the quality of submarine cables, including cable manufacturers, cable installers, offshore energy project developers, TSOs and DSOs, energy utilities, energy project investors and insurance companies.
