Introduction

The overall aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to perform in-depth analysis for a project during the planning and implementation phases. Participants in this interactive course will learn all the critical tools and techniques required to make decisions that optimize the successful execution of a project in a dynamic environment. This training course examines advanced project management tools and techniques, building on the basics, to help ensure success for medium to large and complex projects. Project management processes are examined in detail, with the advanced thought process, and includes, as stakeholders, what senior management must do within an organization, to support projects and enable successful delivery? This training course aligns with the Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®)

Participants will develop the following competencies:

  • Project Initiation and start-up, including roles and responsibilities
  • Project scope management in order to build quality into project plans
  • Project planning and estimating, including resource and costs
  • Critical path and critical chain methodologies to enhance scheduling thought process, and the development of solid, reliable, efficient, and effective project plans
  • Stakeholder identification and analysis, with strategies for engaging different types of stakeholders
  • Advanced project risk and uncertainty analysis. Strategies for handling uncertainty, and applying advanced methods for applying a project management risk process

Objectives

    By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

    • Define project management frameworks, processes, and tools in compliance with the Project Management Institute (PMI) standards
    • Apply different techniques that will assist in the project selection process
    • Construct project diagrams, schedules, and plans and use different techniques to perform an in-depth analysis of project schedules and plans
    • Identify different methods for cost estimating and project budgeting
    • Manage time and cost deviations through applying 'earned value analysis'
    • Employ risk management plans and apply risk response strategies to ensure successful implementation of the project
    • Develop program management plans in compliance with PMI standards

Training Methodology

This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practices. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
