Bit Selection Course

Introduction

The drill bit represents the heart of the drill string, and therefore its proper selection and use cannot be overemphasized. The objective of this course is to acquaint the participants with bit types and design, selection criteria and factors affecting bit wear.

This course focuses on how to choose the correct drill bit and nozzles with respect to the geology to be drilled so that performance is maximized and the risk of failure is minimized.

Also, this course is useful to help people to understand the major components of the Drill-string starting with the whole range of drill bits available for the drilling of different types of rock through to the BHA (Bottom Hole Assembly) which includes stabilizers, NMDC’s (Non-Magnetic Drill Collars), MWD (Measurement While Drilling) tools, LWD (Logging While Drilling) tools, PDM’s (Mud Motors), Rotary Steerable Systems, Turbines, Drill Collars, Jars, HWDP and Drill Pipe.

Objectives

Training Methodology

The training methodology is interactive with group exercises and is suitable for all employees involved in functions management. The pace and level of the training workshop is customized to the understanding of the delegates. Ongoing back-up and support is available after the training on request to the supplier, and the training course is also available for in-house presentation as well as for “Competency Transfer”.
